Natasha Cantwell is a New Zealand filmmaker and photographer, currently living in Melbourne, Australia. Having studied both fine art and commercial photography at the Auckland University of Technology, her work often occupies the grey area between art and popular culture. Her analogue-based works explore the uncanny and absurd within everyday life and have been exhibited in New Zealand, Australia, the UK, Europe and North America.

1) Your name (Obviously we know this already, but if you have a nickname please tell us!)
Natasha, but a lot of my friends call me Nat or Tash.

2) In a sentence, please describe a project or artwork that you have finished recently
I’ve just finished shooting a short experimental film about bee phobias and planets made of mashed potato.

3) What do you want to do during your time in Matsudo?
I’m interested in the architecture and history of Matsudo and exploring the city’s unique urban environment with my trusty old Nikon F90x.

4) What is your favourite food?
Freeze-dried apples!

5) Please write a short message or comment to the people of Matsudo.
I’m looking forward to meeting the residents of Matsudo. As much as I do love buildings, it’s the people which make a city memorable.
Kind regards,
Natasha
