In the artist talk on 11th, he has shared his recent/new works and his experiences in Matsudo and Hiroshima.

●Sanae Nicolas / Works in Matsudo

Since Sanae was a child, going to her grandmother’s place in Fuji (Japan) was an intimately important moment for her. These regular but short visits at her home were opportunities to capture moments of her grandmother daily life, her spaces and their evolution. During her first residence as an artist abroad in Matsudo, Sanae worked on drawing techniques such as gouache painting, intaglio engraving and Okoshiezu making. Being in Japan, but far from crowd in a peaceful town was the perfect match for drawing about her family in Fuji.

Since she graduated from the Paris La Villette School of Architecture in 2016, Sanae is experimenting dialogues between art and architecture, at the interface of France and Japan. She created the architecture office Maison N in 2018 with the architect and urban designer Alexandre Nesi. Together, they embrace a large panel of study scales, from the object-scale to the territory. Since then, Sanae worked as the artist in collaboration for the summer window display of Hermès in Paris, exhibit her artwork at several Design Biennale in Paris.
