LONGSTAY Program 2020-21 has invited and selected three artists over a period of approximately one and a half years, including the conception period, and supported them in their online and on-site residencies in Matsudo. As a final event, a debriefing session was held to review the content of each participant’s stay and activities in Matsudo.

During his residency, Ralph C. Lumbres from the Philippines focused on the non-human residents of Matsudo in his participatory exhibition ‘The Residents of Matsudo’. Anna Cherednikova, from Sweden, created work inspired by the Edo River to capture the flow of things, while Kenta Tanaka worked on a collection of sounds and a sound installation on the theme of time flowing in Matsudo.
The programme was held in the midst of the pandemic, but each of the artists had a different perspective and made contact with Matsudo. Even if they could not be seen from their works, they must have made various discoveries and thoughts in the course of their daily lives.
On the day of the event, participants also asked questions and unravelled the time spent in Matsudo.
