Juan Pablo Ordúñez / MawatreS
From a very early age he started in the world of graffiti and street-art. He graduated in Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country, where he developed his research and projects within the framework of the public sphere, commemoration and the monument. He is currently working on his doctoral thesis on a new monumental language. Nowadays, he combines his artistic practice with his work as teaching and curatorial work. He is a guest lecturer on the Master’s in Contemporary, Technological and Performative Art at the UNIVERSITY OF THE BASQUE COUNTRY. He is a member of the AKMEKA research group and co-founder of LEKUTAN PRODUCTORE OF ART. As the backbone of his research, there are concerns linked to memory, intervention and the notion of commemoration, contemporary art, and commemoration. His research focuses on concerns linked to memory, intervention and the notion of commemoration. In different languages and formats, his productions seek to generate contexts of approach that favour the new ways of telling chapters of history.
